As part of getting planning permission for the Shorncliffe Heights development the develooper (Taylor Wimpey) made promises including things like health care facilities, and money to be given to council to provide services.

This page is going to try and keep track of the developer and council responsibilities outlined in the agreement and keep track if they have been completed.

Agreed Items

Health Center - Not Complete

Expected: Never

300 square metres (GIA) identified for a health care facility (use class D1) to include the provision of 20 car parking spaces and shown on the plan.

This should be marketed before the comencement of phase 2 for a period of 18 months. If no one shows interest after that time then there is no requirement for the health center to be built.

This should be completed before 600 dwellings are occupied on the development.

New Pavilion Building - Complete

New Pavilion building on "The Stadium". This is to be used for the community and leased to: SERFCA (Army and Sea Cadets) for their use

Primary School - Not Complete

A Primary school site and funding of £3,143,222 to Kent County Council to build the school.

The funds have been received by Kent County Counil but have not yet been spent.

This school site should be competed and transferred over to the council before the start of phase 2

Toilet Block - Complete

New Toilet block near the play park. This has been completed and has been givin to the council to maintain.

The Stadium and LEAP - Unknown

This to be transferred to Folkestone Council and a payment of £164,865 given to the council towards maintenence of this area.

Le Quesne and the NEAP - Unknown

This to be transferred to Folkestone Council and a payment of £280,432 given to the council towards maintenence of this area.

Residents Perks

These were sent in a letter as part of your welcome pack when you moved in. You had 6 months to claim. We have spoken to a number of residents who confirmed that they did receive the letter.

£150 per dwelling towards a 3 month bus travel voucher

Financial Contributions

Funds can only be used for their intended purpose and should be held in their own seperate accounts. If they are not used within 7 years they are returned to the developer (Taylor Wimpey)

£9,240 (unconfirmed) to be sent to Folkestone and Hythe Council before first property is sold to fund the monitoring of the developers in providing what is agreed
£17,544 (Unconfirmed) to be given to Folkestone and Hythe Council for the maintenance of the provided toilet block.
£167,008 (confirmed £219,703 Given and £105,378 spent by KCC to date). and to be given to Kent County Council towards additional book stock to meet the demand arising from the Development and supplied to Cheriton and Sandgate libraries and the reconfiguration of Cheriton and Sandgate libraries
£3,143,222 (confirmed £3,332,494 received none spent to date by KCC) to be given to Kent County Council towards the cost of the primary school
£105,000 (Confirmed 110,601 recived and £81,319 spent by KCC to date) to be given to Kent County Council to improve the footpaths and cycle routes

New Bus Route from Hythe to Folkestone West Rail Station
Diverted Bus Route 71/72/73 from Church Road to Royal Military Avenue, North Road, and Pond Hill Lane
New Bus Stops and relocated bus stops on Church Road.

£9000 (£1000 per year) (£2000 recived by KCC to date not spent) to be given to Kent County Council to monitor the travel plan
£164,865 (unconfirmed) to be given to Folkestone and Hythe Council towards maintaining the Stadium and LEAP.
